Certification Categories

Two pathways to certification

After you submit the PCHTA Application Form, the EUSTM Academy Educational Board reviews each application and assigns one of two categories based on your background and experience.

Category 1

Experience Pathway

For professionals with 3 or more years of relevant HTA, health-economics, or market-access experience — CV-based evaluation, no examination required.

  • Background & experience review — depth across appraisal, economic modelling, and value assessment.
  • Evidence of professional contribution and the quality of your submitted professional statement.

Category 2

Examination Pathway

For early-career professionals or those transitioning into HTA — certification granted upon passing a qualifying online examination.

  • Qualifying online examination covering core HTA competencies — available year-round.
  • Results within two weeks; a pass mark is required to qualify for certification.

Board Review

The EUSTM Academy Educational Board reviews your application and assigns Category 1 or 2.

Assessment

Category 1: portfolio evaluation. Category 2: qualifying online examination.

Sign the Certification Conditions Form and pay the applicable fee.

Certificate Awarded

Receive your PCHTA certificate and the right to use the postnominal title.
