Hushan Yang, PhD

Dr. Hushan Yang is Assistant Professor in the Division of Population Science, Department of Medical Oncology, at the NCI-designated Kimmel Cancer Center in Thomas Jefferson University. Dr. Yang’s research is mainly focused on using a multidisciplinary approach to identify cancer biomarkers and develop statistical models for cancer risk and prognosis assessment. He obtained his PhD from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and had his postdoc training in the Department of Epidemiology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. He has received various awards in the fields of molecular epidemiology and cancer biomarker research, including a Jerry and Maury Rubenstein Postdoctoral Fellowship on Cancer Prevention, Berlex Oncology Award and Bayer HealthCare Pharmaceuticals Inc. Award in Population/Patient-Oriented Research, a prestigious V Scholar Award by the V Foundation for Cancer Research and a Research Scholar Award from the American Cancer Society. In addition, Dr. Yang is also serving on the Editorial Board of Hepatology, a top journal in the research field of liver diseases.
