Lizzia Raffaghello is a cell biologist with a long and outstanding experience in cancer field and immunology. She received her PhD from the University of Pavia and worked as a post-doc in the Hematology/Oncology Lab at the Childrens’ Hospital of Los Angeles from 1997 to 1998. At present, she is senior tenure track staff scientist in the Laboratory of Oncology headed by Dr. Vito Pistoia, at the Giannina Gaslini Institute in Genoa, Italy. During her career, she has focused her research efforts on the investigation of tumor microenvironment with particular interest on the mechanisms used by tumor cells to evade the immune system control, and she gave relevant contributions on this issue. More recently, her research projects focused on the development of novel diet-based strategies targeting tumor and immune system metabolism in order to increase the efficacy of chemotherapy and adoptive immunotherapies. She recently collaborated at designing a broad-spectrum integrative approach for cancer prevention and treatment (Block KI et al. Semin Cancer Biol. 2015, 35, S276-304).ection”, PLoS Pathogens 2013.
