Mathias Gebauer, PhD
Mathias studied chemistry in Darmstadt and received his PhD in biochemistry from the University of Heidelberg. After his postdoctoral training in tumor research at ASTA Medica in Frankfurt, he joined Sanofi in May 2001 as a scientist and lab head. In this role he was supervising a Genomics lab and was responsible for Affymetrix gene expression profiling experiments. He was also analyzing gene expression data using bioinformatical methods (e.g. pathway analysis by Ingenuity IPA tool) for target identification and compound profiling projects. In 2009, Mathias joined the Biologics department of Sanofi, where he was responsible for cloning, expression and purification of monoclonal antibodies and antibody fragments. During this period he was managing the research activities to develop a bivalent antibody fragment as a Companion Diagnostics for PET bioimaging in collaboration with Stanford University. In 2012, Mathias took over responsibility for Biomarker identification and quantification within Sanofi in Frankfurt.
