Tomasz Schneider, PhD

Dr Tomasz Schneider is currently a Lecturer in Neuropharmacology at the School of Medicine, Pharmacy and Health at the Durham University, United Kingdom. He received a M.A. in Psychophysiology from the Jagiellonian University, Krakow, Poland in 1999 and a Ph.D. in Medical Sciences from the Polish Academy of Sciences in year 2005. He conducted his postdoctoral research at the Institute of Psychiatry, King’s College London and at the Department of Experimental Psychology and the Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences at the University of Oxford. Dr Schneider’s research activities are focused primarily on the development and evaluation of animal models of human psychiatric and neurodevelopmental disorders including autism, depression, ADHD, schizophrenia, and drug addiction. He is interested in gene-environment interactions and molecular mechanisms of experience-dependent plasticity as well as in novel therapeutics, which might mimic/enhance the beneficial effects of environmental stimulation.
