Dr. Joaquim Bosch Barrera has completed his studies in Medicine at the University of Barcelona (Hospital Clínic) in 2005. He is a specialist in medical oncology by the University of Navarra Clinic (2006-2010) and has undergone research studies under the supervision of Professor Dr. Sofia Merajver at the Cancer Center of the University of Michigan (USA). He obtained his PhD degree (PhD) from the University of Navarra (cum laude) in 2012. From April 2010 works at the Institut Català d’Oncologia (ICO) of Girona, Hospital Universitari Dr. Josep Trueta and since 2014 is the Head of the Lung Cancer Unit of this center. Collaborates in the research carried out at the Cancer and Metabolism Laboratory led by Dr. Javier Menéndez, as well as PI in multiple clinical trials from phase Ib-III in thoracic cancers (n>30). He has participated in the adaptation of the current training program of residents of medical oncology in Spain for the homologation at European level (BOE, April 2013) and has been the coordinator of the + MIR section (Young Oncologist section) of SEOM (Spanish Society of Medical Oncology) during 2017-2019. He is associate professor of the Department of Medical Sciences of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Girona in the subject of Diseases of the Lung (since 2011) and Bioethics (since 2013). He is the co-author of more than 70 indexed publications, the author of various chapters and has collaborated in multiple communications to national and international congresses. He is the principal investigator of several research grants.
