A designation you earn: the EUSTM Centre of Excellence Programme
A formal, independently assessed, three-year designation for hospitals, clinical departments, and specialist centres — awarded in your own field of excellence.
Many institutions genuinely excel in a specific field — oncology, cardiology, IVF, dialysis, imaging, surgery — yet have no independent, credible way to show it. National licensing proves you may operate; accreditation proves you meet general standards. Neither says: this centre is excellent at what it does. The EUSTM Centre of Excellence Programme was created to fill exactly that space.
How the programme works
- Three assessment scopes — Hospital or Health-System, Clinical Department, and Specialist Centre. These scopes define the organisational unit being assessed and are not quality tiers or rankings.
- A six-domain framework — Clinical Outcomes and Service Standards; Patient Safety Culture; Clinical Governance and Quality; Workforce Education and Professional Development; International and Institutional Collaboration; and Research and Translational Medicine where applicable.
- Research and Translational Medicine is optional for care-focused designations and mandatory only where the requested title expressly includes Translational Medicine or Clinical Research.
- Three-year designation — awarded in your own field of excellence, with re-assessment at renewal.
- Earned, not purchased — the designation follows assessment; it cannot simply be bought.
The programme is a professional society recognition — not a regulatory accreditation, and no substitute for national or international licensing.
