Privacy & Cookies Policy

How the European Society for Translational Medicine (EUSTM) collects, uses, and protects your personal data on this website.

This Privacy & Cookies Policy explains how EUSTM handles personal data when you visit eutranslationalmedicine.org, in line with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Austrian Data Protection Act (DSG). We have deliberately designed this website to be privacy-first: we use no advertising cookies, no cross-site tracking, and privacy-friendly analytics that do not identify you.

1Who we are (Data Controller)

The controller responsible for your personal data is:

  • European Society for Translational Medicine (EUSTM) — registered non-profit association
  • Register number (ZVR): 629427022
  • Registered office: Altmannsdorferstrasse 53/17, 1120 Vienna, Austria
  • Email: [email protected]

2The data we collect & why

Website analytics (cookie-free). We use Clicky to understand how our website is used. It is configured in cookie-free mode with IP anonymisation — it stores no cookies on your device and does not identify you personally. It records only aggregated, non-identifying information such as pages viewed, the referring website, general location (country), and device/browser type. Purpose: to measure traffic and improve our content. Legal basis: our legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) in operating and improving the site using the most privacy-protective analytics available.

Language preference (essential). If you switch the site's language, a functional cookie/local-storage entry (Google Translate “googtrans”) remembers your choice. This is strictly necessary to provide the feature you asked for and is exempt from consent.

Information you provide. When you contact us or submit a form — an enquiry, membership, certification or fellowship application, or newsletter sign-up — we collect the details you enter, such as your name, email address, and any information relevant to your request. Legal basis: performance of a contract or pre-contractual steps (Art. 6(1)(b)) for membership and certification; your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) for the newsletter; and our legitimate interests in responding to enquiries.

Technical & security data. Our hosting and security providers automatically process limited technical data (such as IP address and browser information) to deliver the website and protect it from abuse. Legal basis: legitimate interests in security and reliable delivery.

3Cookies & similar technologies

We keep cookies to an absolute minimum. This site does not use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking, or profiling.

  • Essential — language preference (googtrans): set only if you change the site language; remembers your choice across pages.
  • Analytics — Clicky: runs in cookie-free mode, so no analytics cookies are stored on your device.

A short notice at the bottom of the screen informs you of this. You can reopen it at any time via the “Cookie Preferences” link in the footer.

4Who we share data with

We use a small number of trusted service providers (processors) to run this website. We do not sell or rent your personal data to anyone.

  • Clicky (Roxr Software Ltd.) — cookie-free website analytics.
  • Google Translate — used only if you select a non-English language; page text is sent to Google to translate it. English remains the authoritative version.
  • Hostinger — website hosting.
  • Cloudflare — content delivery and security.
  • Email service provider — to deliver your form submissions to our team.

5International data transfers

Some of our providers may process data outside the European Economic Area (EEA). Where they do, the transfer is protected by appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision.

6How long we keep your data

Our analytics data is aggregated and non-identifying. Information you submit through a form is kept only as long as necessary for the purpose you provided it — or as required by law — and is then deleted.

7Your rights under the GDPR

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you;
  • Rectify inaccurate or incomplete data;
  • Erase your data (“right to be forgotten”);
  • Restrict or object to processing;
  • Data portability; and
  • Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing carried out before withdrawal.

To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected].

8If your details appear on this site

If your personal details appear on this website and you would like them amended or removed, please email [email protected] and we will action your request.

9Children

This website is intended for professionals and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect the personal data of children.

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always published on this page with its effective date below.
