How the European Society for Translational Medicine (EUSTM) collects, uses, and protects your personal data on this website.
This Privacy & Cookies Policy explains how EUSTM handles personal data when you visit eutranslationalmedicine.org, in line with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Austrian Data Protection Act (DSG). We have deliberately designed this website to be privacy-first: we use no advertising cookies, no cross-site tracking, and privacy-friendly analytics that do not identify you.
The controller responsible for your personal data is:
Website analytics (cookie-free). We use Clicky to understand how our website is used. It is configured in cookie-free mode with IP anonymisation — it stores no cookies on your device and does not identify you personally. It records only aggregated, non-identifying information such as pages viewed, the referring website, general location (country), and device/browser type. Purpose: to measure traffic and improve our content. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Because this analytics stores no cookies and collects no data that identifies you, it does not rely on consent. We honour opt-out signals: if your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal — and for anyone who previously chose “Essential only” — no analytics run at all.
Language preference (essential). If you switch the site's language, a functional cookie/local-storage entry (Google Translate “googtrans”) remembers your choice. This is strictly necessary to provide the feature you asked for and is exempt from consent.
Information you provide. When you contact us or submit a form — an enquiry, membership, certification or fellowship application, or newsletter sign-up — we collect the details you enter, such as your name, email address, and any information relevant to your request. Legal basis: performance of a contract or pre-contractual steps (Art. 6(1)(b)) for membership and certification; your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) for the newsletter; and our legitimate interests in responding to enquiries.
Technical & security data. Our hosting and security providers automatically process limited technical data (such as IP address and browser information) to deliver the website and protect it from abuse. Legal basis: legitimate interests in security and reliable delivery.
We keep cookies to an absolute minimum. This site does not use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking, or profiling.
A brief notice explains our cookie-free analytics; because it stores no cookies and does not identify you, there is no accept/decline choice to make. You can reopen the notice at any time via the “Privacy Notice” link in the footer, and you can opt out of analytics entirely by enabling Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control in your browser.
We use a small number of trusted service providers (processors) to run this website. We do not sell or rent your personal data to anyone.
Web fonts: all fonts used on this website are self-hosted on our own server. No font requests are sent to Google Fonts or any other third-party font service, and no visitor data is transmitted to display this website's typography.
Some of our providers may process data outside the European Economic Area (EEA). Where they do, the transfer is protected by appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision.
Our analytics data is aggregated and non-identifying. Information you submit through a form is kept only as long as necessary for the purpose you provided it — or as required by law — and is then deleted.
You have the right to:
To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected].

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always published on this page with its effective date below.
