Bente Vestergaard, PhD

Bente Vestergaard is associate professor and group leader of the BioSAXS group at the Department of Drug Design and Pharmacology, University of Copenhagen. She holds a M.Sc. in Chemistry and Biotechnology (1999, Aarhus University) and a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology (2002, Aarhus University) specializing in structural biology and macromolecular crystallography. Since 2004 she has focused on structural analysis of complex pharmaceutically relevant macromolecular solutions, using BioSAXS as the primary method, and with a particular focus on protein fibrillation analysis. In 2010 Bente Vestergaard has been awarded the Sapere Aude Young Research Leader award by the Danish Council for Independent Research, for her work on protein fibrillation.
