Dr Shahzad is currently serving as a President for the European Society for Translational Medicine. From 2015 till 2022, Dr Shahzad served at the School of Medicine, University of Colorado, USA in volunteer capacity. He also served as a visiting professor at the Harbin Medical University, Harbin. Dr Shahzad is Fellow of the Royal College of the Physician, Glasgow, (FRCP) along with a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, (FHEA) UK . Dr Shahzad did Certification in Medical Education (PgCertMed) from the School of Medicine, University of Dundee, UK. He completed his MBA in healthcare management from the University of Sunderland, UK.

He is one of the pioneer in translational medicine and working for the progress and advancement of the public health pillar of the translational medicine triangle. His current areas of interest include exploring novel clinical research methadologies, and teaching inter professional and medical education. Moreover, he is interested in the development of easy modes of continuing education and training programs for the clinicians and scientist.

Dr Shahzad edited the first textbook for the translational Medicine field ‘Translational Medicine: Tools And Techniques’ published by the Elsevier.

Dr Shahzad was on management committee of the European Commission’s COST action program to Focus and Accelerate Cell-based Tolerance-inducing Therapies (A FACTT) and also for the COST action program on the Development of a European-based Collaborative Network to Accelerate Technological, Clinical and Commercialisation Progress in the Area of Medical Microwave Imaging.

He has advised and participated in many advisory and scientific boards for several organizations and consultation for industry. He is senior expert evaluator in medical and life sciences for many organizations including European Commission. Dr Shahzad is internationally known KOL and invited chair/speaker for numerous international conferences.
